When we post a Gr Cru Bordeaux at this sort of price point, it means some sort of extremely useful negotiation has just taken place.
Emphasis on the "extremely".
Our importer negotiated this deal in four hours of back and forth via WhatsApp, we have the "deal of deals" on a beautiful, winery-direct tranche of organically farmed Grand Cru Saint Emilion from a historic gem of a producer in the appellation under control of the same family for the last 500 years. They described this as "our most nonsensical deal in company history in the category to be specific".
How does it taste? James Suckling's notes are spot on:
"A lightly chewy and earthy red with walnuts, black berry fruit, olives and bay leaves on the nose. It’s medium-bodied, nicely balanced, with medium-firm tannins. From organically grown grapes. Drink from 2024. 90 points." - James Suckling 11/23
This stuff may remind our elder customers of the early glory days of Chateau Montelena's "Calistoga Cuvee" - a wine where you want to keep going back and back and back to the glass until suddenly the bottle is empty in 20 minutes.
...and the pricing?
Ha! Stupid good.
And to put an exclamation mark on the whole thing, case buyers enjoy our usual 10% discount AND get the wooden case box for free!
Call it early Christmas, call it insane, call it what you like - Let the hoarding begin!
