Fortunately for the world's growing number of Sancerre fanatics, the 2024 vintage was cool and clean, producing wines with excellent acidity and precise aromatics.

The wine is 100% Sauvignon Blanc from limestone‑rich soils called terres blanches (white earth) and caillottes soils (one of the OTHER soil types in Sancerre, along with terres blanches and Silex). Sancerre fans have begun asking for wines from these specific soil types, and while some do come from just one, Sancerre most commonly comes from vineyards with multiple soils types.

Pairing: The classic pairing for Sancerre is shellfish, oysters, salads, or a Loire goat cheese like Crottin de Chavignol.

The Winery

It can get confusing, because there are multiple Millet families in Sancerre (the Gerard Millet, currently on our shelves, for example). Jean Luc's family is from an entirely different branch, based in Le Breu. They have passed this winery down through three generations (so far)

The family winery focuses on small‑parcel Sauvignon Blanc grown on some of the appellation’s most prized limestone slopes. As is the standard for wineries we work with, their approach is traditional and low‑intervention, emphasizing purity, precision, and the chalky minerality that defines classic Sancerre.
