Girlan 2023 Sauvignon Blanc, "Indra"

From the wine region known as "Sud Tirol" (Southern Tyrol) in Austria, it is now part of Italy (better known to Italians as 'Alto Adige', but those with Austrian roots still include the Sud Tirol on their labels). The region belonged to Austria until it was annexed by Italy during the fall of the fascists during WWII.

The regional culture is a mix of German/Austrian and Italian, with street signs, menus, evacuation instructions, etc. etc. appearing in both German and Italian, though the latter is spoken with a unique, regional dialect. But the Sauvignon Blanc from this region is among the most stunning on the planet.

The wine is nuanced, complex and beautiful!
