Scala 2023 Ciro Rosato

Cirò is a DOC of Italy's Calabria wine region in southern Italy, "from the toe to the arch" of Italy's boot-shaped mainland. The region is best known for red wines made from the Gaglioppo grape (gal YO po). It is one of the oldest named wines in the world, with a winemaking history stretching back thousands of years.

Cirò Rosato wines like this one are quite rare. They follow the same laws as do the red wines - which dictate at least 80% of the blend must be Gagliopo and NO MORE than 10% Barbera, Sangiovese, Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon, or Merlot. The remainder can consist of a number of other allowable varieties from Calabria.
