Sherwood Estate 2023 "Stoney Range" Sauvignon Blanc, Waipara, New Zealand

This wine is hand-crafted, but still (somehow) priced competitively with the boring factory-farmed stuff you'll find in the big box retail world.

The winery's proprietor is Jill Sherwood who is known for her amazing home garden as well as her vineyards, where she farms some of Waipara's most engaging Sauvignon Blanc and Pinot Noir.

As you'd expect from cool-climate vineyards, the wine is an exuberant, mouth-watering New Zealand Sauvignon crafted in the style that gave the Kiwi category its moment 25 years ago. Not surprising when you learn that Sherwood's vineyard was one of the first planted in New Zealand back in the mid-1980s by Jill and her husband Dayne. 

You'll be happy to have loaded in as much of this as you have budget for.
