A red blend of Sangiovese, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, and Canaiolo aged in oak barrels for 6-8 months then in bottle for another 3 months prior to release.

The wine shows a deep ruby color with violet reflections. Intense aromas of berries, dried herbs and evidence of the oak aging. Overall, well-balanced and pleasant with good freshness and soft, velvety tannins leading into the wine's long and lingering finish.

Pair with red meat dishes, roasts and braised meats, as well as with aged cheeses and fine cured meats. Chill only slightly to the ideal serving temperature of 60 - 65°F, but first decant this young wine for at least an hour to allow the wine to show its best stuff.

The Winery

Since the early 1900s, the Contini Bonacossi family have been stewards of the enchanting property that is the historic Capezzana Estate. In addition to wine, the estate is equally well known for their olive oil and some of the most award-winning Vin Santo wines (and their art collection, but that's a whole different story!)

The Bonacossi family acquired Tenuta Capezzana in 1926, although the cultivation of vines and olive trees in Capezzana dates back to the Etruscan times, before the Romans. In 1947, Cesare Alessandro Contini Bonacossi’s son, Augusto Alessandro, was joined by his eldest son Ugo, who returned from the war and earned his degree in agriculture. Ugo gradually transformed Capezzana from a sharecropping farm into a modern agricultural estate.

Ugo had a broad vision for the estate, enthusiastically welcoming his children into the family business, identifying and encouraging their individual skills and qualities. The fourth generation is now represented by Beatrice, Filippo, and Benedetta, who, together with their grandchildren Ettore, Gaddo, and Serena, manage Tenuta di Capezzana.
