Viotti 2015 Albarossa

This obscure Italian grape was created a century ago when crossing grape varieties was a bit of a thing. It was believed to be a cross between Nebbiolo and Barbera, but subsequent testing has shown the Nebbiolo to actually be a rare French grape variety called Chatus.

But a rose by any other name...

...whatever it's parentage, this grape produces a delightfully drinkable, food-friendly wine that is easy to love. Red fruits dominate, but with a backup chorus of darker tones and subtle spice notes.
