Recipe: Brie & Onion Tart in 20 minutes

Fridge to Table in 20 Minutes

In less time than it takes to get a DoorDash delivery, you can impress your guests (and your taste buds) with this simple dish using pantry ingredients (though we recommend keeping the brie in the fridge, of course)!

Just Four Ingredients

  1. Puff Pastry (not shown - available in the freezer section)
  2. Milk, cream or beaten egg (for brushing)
  3. Brie (available at Farmstead)
  4. Divina's Caramelized Onion Jam (available at Farmstead)
  5. (optional - chopped fresh thyme for topping)

Procedure

Heat oven to 375 degrees.

Open the puff pastry and flatten, repairing any breaks from the unfolding process. Cut into three-inch squares and place on a cookie sheet topped with parchment paper, if you have any on hand. Leaving about a half inch from each edge, score the dough in a square, as shown in the image here - you'll end up with a frame around your ingredients.

Divide the brie into equal portions and place in the center of the dough, spreading / mashing a bit to fill the space. Top with a generous portion of the Caramelized Onions. Brush the edge of each pasty with the milk or egg wash and place into the pre-heated oven until golden brown.

Top with the optional chopped herb, if using. Serve warm!

Pairings

This savory treat pairs very well with a huge variety of wines, though our favorites are the crisp whites or bubbles that provide a contrast to the warm brie. Also works well with rich, full-bodied whites that match the full flavors here, and we'd be remiss if we didn't include lighter-bodied reds as well - in short, pop the cork on whatever wine you have on hand!
