Wine Experience: Wines of Valpolicella, Sunday March 9, 5pm-6pm

Wines of Valpolicella, an exceptional wine & food experience! 

This is a seated tasting with food and is limited to 10 people. We're pretty sure you won't find a better food-and-wine deal anywhere in the Bay Area.

The wines of Valpolicella are enjoying a renaissance, largely due to the efforts of Marco Speri. Marco was an early visionary of the new style of wines for the region.

As a young man, Marco travelled the world to gain experience in wineries outside of Italy before taking over his family winery. But he returned with a new perspective on wine that was out of step with his family's style. He grew increasingly determined to create his own, more contemporary, style of wine and eventually left behind his birth right - inheriting his family's winery - to pursue his own vision.

He brought organic farming and innovative trellising techniques to better adapt to a warming climate. And his innovative cellar techniques allow him to craft more food-friendly wines for today's lighter diets and taste preferences.

Over the past couple of decades, his commercial success and stacks of awards and high point scores have proven him correct!

His wines range in style from the affordable and highly enjoyable 'chillable red' Valpolicella, to a Ripasso (the middle ground), an Amarone (the heavyweight) and a sweet Recioto. 

We'll sample all four wines during this event.
