Between Fableist, Wonderwall, Neverland, Fiction, and Field Recordings, we carry more wines made by Andrew Jones than any other winemaker – over 20 SKUs and growing. Why? His wines are varietally correct, reflect a sense of place, follow sustainable farming practices, and punch well above their weight class in the value department.
The Fableist is a collaboration between winemakers Curt Schalchlin and Andrew Jones. Curt, owner, and vintner of the heralded winery, Sans Liege/Groundwork, is known for his critically acclaimed, yet affordable wines. Andrew, winemaker of Field Recordings spends his days planning and planting vineyards and has stood foot in just about every vineyard on the Central Coast. Together, they produce The Fableist, a collaboration that gives special attention to the craft and story behind each wine.
This new reserve bottling from Fableist is no exception: 100% Cabernet from four Paso vineyards that see 18 months in a 50/50 mix of 2nd fill French and American barriques. Look for notes of graphite, black currants, and vanilla extract, the wine opens up and envelops you with a berry pie aroma. The sweetness is complimented by complex, licorice-infused dark chocolate. Reflect on the good ol’ days with this perfect homage to Paso Cab.
