2024 Alexakis Assyrtiko Greece, Crete

 Assyrtiko (also spelled 'Asyrtiko', but both are pronounced the same way - "ah SEAR tee-coe).

A complex, saline-laden and crisp white wine grape indigenous to Greece and most commonly found on the island of Santorini and other Aegean islands where it grows in arid soils dominated by volcanic ash. This is a very dry wine featuring flavors of citrus (lime) and exotic notes of passion fruit. Due to the sea-side proximity of the vineyards, some pleasant saline notes are evident, making the wine particularly food-friendly!

Parings: Anything from the sea! Classics include grilled octopus, sea bass or branzino, fried calamari or boiled lobster. A cheap n easy meal - try it with tinned sardines or anchovies on top of some of our Torres chips.
