Bloodroot 2023 Chardonnay Sonoma Coast

The Bloodroot 2023 Chardonnay embodies the cool, coastal environment in which it was born. Hailing from Sonoma's Coastal sites, from Sebastopol to Occidental, this wine was grown on Goldridge soils and was heavily influenced by the cooling Pacific Ocean breezes that define the style of wines from this area.

We believe this wine seriously over-delivers value for the price. A classic, coastal Chardonnay!

• The 2023 vintage was one of the coolest of the last 20 years in Northern California, pushing harvest dates back 3-4 weeks in most cases. The wines from the vintage are full of brightness and possess a sinewy edge.
• This Chardonnay is a mixture of clones including Mt Eden, Old Wente, Robert Young, Clone 4 and Montrachet.
• The wine was whole cluster pressed and 60% of it was then fermented in barrels (of which 25% were new French oak) and the remaining 40% in stainless steel tanks at cool temperatures.
• Given the already cool and tense vintage, the wine underwent full malolactic fermentation to add some texture and to build out the mid-palate experience.
• This wine is full of orchard fruits like Pink Lady apple and yellow pear. It also combines a very nice note of Meyer lemon and wet stone that streaks through the wine.
• Medium bodied and light on its feet, it is a definite crowd pleaser that pairs nicely with a wide range of dishes.
