The Wine

A wine that feels like ocean spray and citrus light, “Sea Queen” is a high-acid, low-intervention Albariño grown just five miles from the Pacific—where fog, wind, and marine soils shape every sip.

Lime blossom, green melon, and sea salt, with hints of white peach, lemongrass, and crushed shell. On the palate look for an electric and mouthwatering wine that pulses with saline minerality and citrus tension. Albariño’s signature acidity is front and center, wrapped in a silky texture and a whisper of tropical fruit. Fermented in stainless steel and neutral oak, aged on lees for added texture. It’s lean but not austere—think oyster brine meets orchard breeze.

The Winery

Founded by winemaker John Niven, Cadre is a cool-climate specialist focused on high-acid whites from the San Luis Obispo Coast. The name nods to a tight-knit group of growers and thinkers pushing the boundaries of coastal winemaking.

Edna Valley, just inland from the Pacific, where ancient seabed soils and marine fog create ideal conditions for Albariño, Grüner Veltliner, and Pinot Noir. They focus on low-intervention in the vineyard and cellar, with site-driven wines that celebrate acidity, transparency, and coastal terroir.

Crisp, mineral-driven, and expressive of their soils, these are wines whose language is accented by salt and stone, wines that are in tune with our times.
