The Wine

This isn't your parent's Lambrusco! Those fizzy reds were fine for those coming of age in the 80's, but this is a far finer flagon of fizz! There is incredible value and loads of delicousness waiting for you beneath this cork!
There are several genetic strains of Lambrusco grapes used in making wine, and the Lambrusco producers in Emilia-Romagna region craft the best versions we've tasted. The 'best' of the three is the Sorbara, in that it creates a fine and elegant wine.
This Lambrusco is made from 100% Lambrusco Sorbara, and it deseves a place on your table. Just don't hold it in reserve for celebrations either - the wine pairs well with a wide variety of dishes due to its zippy acidity.

The bottle, you may have noticed, is wider than most. That's because the minds behind Cantina della Volta are acolytes of the rarified producers, and their bottle shape, in the Champagne region's "Special Club". To be a member of this club, one must be a producer who uses only their own grapes, be invited and reviewed, and then submit each new release to a blind evaluation and approval by the group. Only then can the Special Club wine be bottled in the unique, extra-wide bottle. This Italian producer is not allowed to be a member, of course, but they use the same bottle shape as an homage, and as a constant reminder to remain committed to quality in the same way.

The Winery
(Dave's note - to picture where this winery is located, Emilia-Romagna runs Northwest to Southeast, just above the calf of the 'boot' that is Italy.)

The winery is now run by a 3rd-generation winemaker with an infinite passion for and curiosity about Champagne, Christian Bellei has partnered with Angela Sini and Giorgio Angiolini to rebuild his family’s legacy on new, contemporary foundations. Together they set out to apply the Champenois Method (aka Metodo Classico) to their entire production, which includes a series of astonishing 100% Lambrusco di Sorbara, and an outstanding line up of certified organic Chardonnays & Pinot Noirs grown in the Apennines.
