The Wine

Pinot Nero (AKA Pinot Noir in France and the New World, and Blauburgunder in Germanic wine countries) was brought to the Sudtirol (South Tyrol) about 120 years ago. Located in Northern Italy right below the Austrian border, the region's stunning, picturesque beauty hides a history of political and cultural turmoil... but that's a story for another time.

This wine comes from the lower Valle Isarco in the southern part of the region, where the warm hillsides around Campodazzo provide the ideal conditions for Pinot Noir/Nero with generous aromas, a velvety texture, balanced tannins and acidity combine with the earth and red/blue fruit notes typical of Pinot Nero.

The Winery

The Cantina Produtori Valle Isarco cellars are devoted to the production of quality wines on behalf of their 130 small growers.  Founded in a traditional vine-growing area, they are the newest cooperative in South Tyrol. By leveraging local talent with deep roots in the business, their wines have quickly earned recognition.

The modern facility at Chiusa produces over 80,000 cases per year, of which 80% are DOC (quality wines from specific vine-growing areas). The elegance and character of the wines reflect the philosophy of the Cantina and of its 130 members - "Quality without Compromise"
