The Cellar de Capcanes is a grower-owned cooperative in Montsant, Spain, and area shaped like a donut, and in the center is the more prestigious DOP of Priorat, known for their big, powerful and painfully expensive versions of Garnatxa.
Located just South of Barcelona by an hour or so, Monsant has a long and rch agricultrual history. Grenache rules here!
La Nit de las Garnatxa, or the “Night of the Grenaches”, is not just the name of a series of wines but also a party celebrating how the same grape is very different when grown in different soils. Four separate bottlings: Limestone, Slate, Clay and Sand, as depicted on the wrapper & Label of each. And this being Spain, the party starts at midnight and continues to sunrise.
