COS 2024 Extra Virgin Olive Oil, estate (500ml)

The Oil

Sicilian olive oil is as varied in style as is its wines. The island is large, of course, but even so one is surprised by the variation in its regional olive oils. And adding to this array of options is the fact that virtually every grape grower also grows olives and produce oil.

Olive oils of this quality should be reserved for uses that showcase their complexity - simple dressings, finishing oils, and dipping!

This particular oil comes from the COS winery in southern Sicily's Vittoria region. Pressed from the 'Tonda Iblea' olives grown on the estate, it was one of our many pleasant discoveries during our 2025 food and wine tour with customers. 

The oil shows an appealing golden-green hue and offers enthusiastic aromas of fresh herbs, artichoke, and green almonds. On the palate, it offers the peppery finish that is a marker for oils high in polyphenols. It finishes with hints of citrus and wild greens that beg to be drizzled onto your favorite dishes.
