Curto 2019 La Foia Barolo
Curto 2019 La Foia Barolo
Huzzah! The stellar 2019 vintage is in! If you haven't read the hoopla, let me just condense it down for this space - it's the best vintage Barolo has seen in ages. And this single-vineyard gem is worth stocking up on, even though it ain't cheap, it's a bargain for those with the self control to let it sit for a decade or so. The single-vineyard Barolo wines from the 2019 vintage justify top prices on the global market - I've seen prices as high as $1,118/bottle. So this is a relative bargain and a great way to enjoy the wines of Italy's premier red wine region.
Tasting Notes: The wine begins with a bright garnet red in the glass, with aromas of dark fruits, damp earth and enticing spice notes. Added aromatic complexity hints at rose water, black licorice, warm leather, and truffle. On the palate, the wine exhibits Barolo's typical full-bodied experience, but with a surprising elegance for such a youthful example. Drink now through 2040.
