Alluvial
The Wine
This affordable wine over-delivers on pure pinot pleasure!
Despite its vague "Central Coast" appellation (which extends from the Santa Cruz Mountains to Sanata Barabara!), this region includes some of California's top regions for Pinot Noir - Santa Lucia Highlands, Santa Maria Valley, Sta Rita Hills...) The wine is silky on the palate, with highlights being red‑fruits, cherry, rose petal, and warm spice. Supple and pure, balancing coastal freshness with gentle oak sweetness.
Pairing: Classic Pinot Pairings like roast chicken or salmon work well here. In the cheese department, reach for a soft‑ripened cheese like Mt. Tam or a classic French Brie.
The Winery
Eden Rift farms one of California’s oldest continuously planted vineyard sites, dating to 1849. Under Christian Pillsbury, the estate has embraced regenerative agriculture, dry farming where possible, and a Burgundian approach to Pinot Noir. Limestone soils and cool Pacific influence define the wines, which aim for transparency and site expression over power.
