The Wine

I can't tell you how often customers hesitate to reach for a Riesling "because I don't like sweet wines". There is a whole world of Rieslings, from some of the most expensive dessert wines (usually sold in tiny bottles for the cost of college education) to some bone-dry, acid monsters.

This is one of our most popular dry, mineral-driven Rieslings that takes that middle path - neither too fruity nor tart and acidic. Grown in Germany’s Nahe region, the wine showcases the estate’s precise winemaking and focus on terroir - one of the reasons winemakers and collectors love this grape is for its ability to express the uniqueness of different plots where it grows.

Tasting Notes: Delicate aromas of orchard blossom, stone fruit like peach and apricot, and subtle hints of petrol - a marker for Riesling that increases as it ages. On the palate the wine is vibrant and refreshing, with citrus zest, green apple, and a mouthwatering saline finish. 12.5% ABV

Pairings: An ideal companion for shellfish, fresh cheeses, or spicy Asian cuisine. Cheese-wise, look to Chabichou (aged goat cheese with a creamy core), Manchego, Ricotta Salata, Comte...

The Winery

Weingut Kruger-Rumpf is a family-run estate located in Münster-Sarmsheim. Though records show the estate dates back to the early 1700s, it only began bottling wine under the family names in 1984 under the direction of Stefan Rumpf.

His son, Georg Rumpf, is the lates generation to take the helm. Trained at Germany's prestigious Geisenheim wine school, Georg has brought the winery to focus on site-specific bottlings and Grosses Gewächs (GG) wines (a designation for Germany's top vineyard sites).
