The Wine
Garnacha (aka Granache) is one of Spain's top red varieties, where you'll find it growing from Priorat to Aragon, where this wine calls home. The vines behind this wine are over 50 years old.
Opening with its cherry-red color, showing a combination of red and black fruits, the wine adds nice complexity to this simple fruit note with the addition of pepper, exotic spices and herbal notes, finishing with a bit of minerality that lingers on the finish.
The wine spent almost a year in oak barrels, softening its tannins and jump-starting its bottle age, which can continue to good effect through the end of the decade, or even a bit longer.
Pair with BBQ, grilled meats, pasta, aged cheeses, your favorite mushroom dish, shepherd's pie, or a really good cheeseburger.
The Winery
At Vinos López, the story began in 1970 when Épila, Zaragoza (image) founded the winery, Since then, their winery has become an emblem of quality and authenticity in the Valdejalón region, maintaining the heritage of past generations and committed to excellence. Since his founding, son Jose joined his dad and built on Epila's foundation. And today, his sons Mario and Antonio have built further, obtaining organic certification for the family vineyards and expanding international markets where the majority of Spanish wine is enjoyed.
