Lebeau-Batiste Brut Tradition
Lebeau-Batiste Brut Tradition
The Wine
A blend of Pinot Meunier (60%), Pinot Meunier (30%) and Chardonnay (10%) with a dosge of 8 g/L. A third of the wine is from the estates reserve, which has been aged for 36 months, which adds a richness to the wine. The combination of red fruit dominance and reserve wine produces a Champagne that is golden in color, with aromas and flavors of apricot, pear and white flowers, with apple, pastry dough and caramel on the palate. A persistent bead tops off the taster's experience from this wine that is perfect for any occasion.

The Producer
Growers-producers Emilie Lebeau and her husband Florent Batiste farm all of their vines organically . They manage a small cluster of vineyards on the western edge of the Cote de Blanc in the village of Chavot-Courcourt. Find it on a map and you'll see it's just minutes from Grand Crus sites Cuis, Cramant, Avize, Les Mesnil sur Oger and Chouilly!
Until quite recently, Emilie's vines supplied a significant amount of juice to the Chavost co-operative, but we were thrilled when she recently partnered with one of our favorite importers to bring their wines to the states. We've ordered as much as we can afford, as these wines over-deliver in spades, and we sold a ton during the holidays last year. Lebeau-Batiste deserves all the accolades and attention they receive. Across their entire range, this couple produces spectacular wines priced far, far below their actual value.
