Sacred Thirst
The Wine
The wine offers classic "Sauvvy Blanc" aromas of cut grass, pepper, pineapple, and lemon, with a strong mineral note. On the palate, it is classically crisp and refreshing, with a bright, profile that combines the classic minerally Touraine style and the vibrancy of a New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc.
The wine is dry and refreshing, with mineral, floral, and a hint of lemon, balanced by sufficient richness and a fruity note typical of its hillside terroir.
The Winery
Les Roches Fleuries is in the Middle Loire Valley’s Touraine region, located between the Loire and Cher Rivers, sandwiched between the towns of Tours and Blois. All the geography aside, this is a region known for its unique and refreshing take on Sauvignon Blanc.
The estate dates back to Roman times, with plots stretching along the hillsides alongside the Loire and its tributaries. The terroir is dominated by siliceous clay, clay on flint, or clayey limestone, which contribute to the wine’s mineral intensity and structure.
The winemaking process is straightforward, with a gentle pressing, cool settling in temperature-controlled vats (18–20°C), and maturation in stainless steel under inert gas to preserve freshness. The wine is 100% Sauvignon Blanc, with an alcohol content typically around 13.5%
