Dom Maby 2020 Lirac, La Fermade Rouge (GSM Blend)

A blend of Grenache, Syrah and Mourvedre (40% / 40% / 20%) - the classic trio of the Southern Rhone. Average vine age is 35 years, fermented and matured in concrete tanks prior to bottling. Drink now through 2030.

Tasting Notes: Bramble berries and hints of clove come through in this wine's complex aroma profile. On the palate, it shows black cherries and saffron. Its silky tannins and pleasant minerality argue for near-term enjoyment. while its good acidity supports the argument for a bit more aging (if one has the space and the self-control!)

As with many wines from the Chateauneuf-u-Pape satellite regions, this wine finishes with a persistent salinity that shifts its food pairings from the traditional game and pork towards grilled, smokey dishes such as a seafood paella!
