The Wine
A very 'pretty' Pinot from one of the delightful people in the wine business. The wine opens with light and elegant aromas of rose petals, wild strawberry, pomegranate, and fresh raspberry followed by sublet hints of pink peppercorn and (is it just a suggestion, knowing where it's grown???) redwood forest floor. The wine is grown in the "Deep End" of Anderson Valley, a term reserved for the most Westerly side of Anderson Valley, one of California's premier growing areas for Pinot Noir, known for its cool climate, long growing season and fogbound mornings.

The Winery
Read Holland is the project of winemaker Ashley Holland, whose career has been defined by a devotion to cool‑climate Pinot Noir and a meticulous, vineyard‑forward approach we favor as we select wines for our portfolio - it's an Old-World tradition currently popular in the New World as well, thank God.
After spending her formative years learning from respected producers in both California and New Zealand, she founded Read Holland to focus on small, site‑specific wines from Anderson Valley and the Sonoma Coast.
Her fruit is harvested with relatively low brix so her wines can express their natural brightness and, post-fermentation, oak is used sparingly so as not to mask the expression of each site.
Her Deep End Pinot reflects her affinity for vineyards at the valley’s far western edge, where maritime influence shapes fruit of high-toned aromatics, fine structure, and a distinctive redwood‑forest imprint.
Production is intentionally small, allowing for hands‑on work at every stage and a level of detail that shows clearly in the finished wines. Ashley and her wines have developed a devoted following among those who seek wines of elegance and perfumed aromatics reflecting the highest expression of the fruit.
