Marzemino is one of Italy's rare grapes that is unique to its region here in Northern Italy. Similar to Sangiovese, in fact, they're related genetically, but with lower acidity and tannin, making it an elegant option for near-term enjoyment (peaking 3-5 years from vintage date).

Pair with a wide range of foods. Serve chilled to cellar temperature - about 60 degrees.
The Winery
Siblings Cristina, Giuseppe and Roberta Fugatti (image, showing 3 generations of the Fugatti family) created Roeno as a tribute to their father Rolando, who grew grapes for use by other producers in the region.
As growers, they are committed to the traditional grapes of this area: Teroldego, Marzemino, Riesling, Müller Thurgau, and the native Enantio grape. Some of these grapes are nearly extinct, and their growing requirements make them barely profitable in the best of years. But the uniquely sandy soils (image) near the Adige River has prevented the phylloxera louse from infesting the vine roots, and therefore Roeno maintains some of the oldest vines in Europe.
We selected this wine because Giuseppe’s precise, respectful winemaking style has resulted in a wine of the purest varietal character, freshness, and balance. A wine that shows its best when paired with food!
