Rustichella Abruzzo "Pandorino" Tin
Pandoro is a traditional Italian sweet bread, most famously associated with Verona. It is a beloved centerpiece of the Christmas season, on display in Viennese store windows across the city beginning in early December.
"Pandoro" translates to “golden bread,” named for its rich color and luxurious texture. Shaped in a tall, star-like mold—usually with eight points—it has a sculptural silhouette that makes it instantly recognizable on holiday tables.
The texture of pandoro is soft, fluffy, and buttery, with a fine crumb that practically melts in your mouth. Its flavor is delicately sweet, often infused with subtle notes of vanilla and citrus zest. The traditional serving of Pandoro is to place it on a cake plate after dusting the top with powdered sugar, evoking the snowy peaks of the Italian Alps, then cutting it at the table.
Pandoro is typically served sliced vertically and sometimes gently warmed. The optional (but HIGHLY recommended) service is with a side or topping of mascarpone cream, zabaglione, or even a generous spread of Noccioliva (Hazelnut & Chocolate Spread) for added indulgence!
Panettone may be the fruit-studded extrovert of Italian holiday breads, but pandoro is its elegant, golden cousin.
Quietly decadent. Universally adored.
