Grape Expectations
The Wine
A wine that over-delivers for the money and serves as a emissary for the pricier pleasures of the region!
Aromas of ripe red and black fruits such as kirsch, raspberry compote, and warm plum, with notable hints of the region's famed garrigue and trailing notes of licorice, and cracked pepper.
The palate is generous without heaviness, the tannins are quite fine and the flavors follow the aromas, with savory spice, and a clean, mineral‑tinged finish that keeps it balanced and highly drinkable.
With each vintage since its launch during COVID, this wine has served as a low‑risk entry point for consumers exploring the Châteauneuf category - especially anyone new to the pleasures of the Southern Rhône. The only limitation is its limited supply.
The Winery
Saint‑Galet began as a négociant project during the early days of COVID when a severely disrupted market made them realize exceptional barrels and tanks of Châteauneuf‑du‑Pape from a range of producers - including several highly regarded estates - were available on the spot market at prices that simply made no sense.
Many questioned how the negociant could blend top‑tier wines from such an expensive appellation, ship it across the world, and still deliver the wine at a price below $50, insisting the whole proposition was “too good to be true.”
