Schafer 2024 Blanc de Noirs

The Wine

Schafer's wines are certified organic and vegan. This is a white wine made from the free-run juice of red grapes (Pino Noir), and this lack of any skin contact leaves the wine with barely any discernable color. The wine shows fine and lively bubbles, a firm structure with a hint of typical strawberry fruit. Drink now through 2030.

The Winery

If you were to travel North-to-South on Germany's Rhine River, just after Nierstein you encounter the old village of Mettenheim at the foot of the rising slopes. Here, soils are warmed by good sun exposure, and the wine reflects this phenolic ripeness as a balancing compliment to the structure from the soils - loam on top of clay in the Schlossberg slope, and the sandy soils from the Goldberg vineyard.

The Schäfer family has produced wines typical of the Rheinhessen since 1709. Their passion, respect for nature and desire for continual improvement result in some of the finest German wines we carry.
