Made from very fine Nerello Mascalese (98%) and a small amount of Nerello Cappuccio from low yielding, volanic vineyards on the North side of the mountain. From a mixture of both young and old plantings between 6 and 50 years of age.
The grapes are macerated until fermentation is complete, then is aged in wood until bottled roughly one year after harvest. Even in its early years it is a distinguished wine showing a fresh, fragrant, beautifully slender wine and with fine tannins. There is a natural polish here, a confident stage presence, as it were. As the wine ages we anticipate an increasingly rich complexity. A very food-friendly wine, open this bottle with a wide variety of dishes.

The Winery
When it comes to the much sought-after wines of Mt Etna, the growing conditions on the North side are best for producing red wines, while the best whites come from the south. Tenuta delle Terre Nere located their facility in the North, part of the Passopisciaro area near such other notable producers as the eponymous Passopisciaro and Palmento Costanzo. But such growers typically own vineyards on the south side of the Mountain as well.
