Turley 2023 Zinfandel Juvenile

The Wine

This Zin is composed of vines planted between six and 25 years ago. The wine was created specifically as a destination for grapes from younger vines the Turley's have planted as their estate vineyards require new vines. As a result, this is an affordable wine from a great pedigree - just look at the prestigious vineyards thatare behind this wine - Hayne, Pesenti, Salvador, Vineyard 101, Fredricks, Kirschenmann...and 18 more! 

After harvest, the grapes ferment with native yeasts to allow the most distinctive expression of terroir possible - each fermentation uses (and adds to) the yeast biome in the winery. The fermented wine is then aged in French (20% new) and used American oak barrels (80% French / 20% used American) from 12 different coopers. 

Aromas of juicy dark cherries, blackberries and raspberries, with some sweet and savory spice notes. Flavors are similar, with added complexity of salty, dried meats and brambly fruits. A mid-to-large body with silky tannins.
