Turley 2022 Zinfandel Old Vines

The Wine

"Old Vines" is actually an amalgam of 20+ old vineyard sites from California in Napa, Sonoma, Mendocino, Lodi, Contra Costa, Amador and Paso Robles. They are either too small to be made into a vineyard-designated wine or are “new” to the Turley family (and way of farming), so they get blended into this marvelous old master of a wine.

The Zinfandel in this wine is actually only 95% of the blend, with other varietals being a mélange of Mataro (Mourvedre), Alicante Bouschet, Petite Sirah, Grenache and Cinsault. All of these vines are between 50 and 130 years old - true representatives of California old vine Zinfandel. Fermentation occurred without inoculated yeast, and elevation occurred over 12 months in oak barrels (90% used, 10% new and 80% French, 20% American). Unfined.
