Uggiano 2019 Chianti Classico "Roccialta"
The Wine
"The nose opens peppery, herbaceous and earthy, with the warmth of hot tar and crushed rocks, then the tang of tart blackberries emerges. Those blackberries ripen and burst on the palate, beneath a vanilla-chocolate swirl, but the earth tones reappear atop firm tannins to keep the sweetness in check. 90 points (reviewed at $18)." — Danielle Callegari, Wine Enthusiast 7/1/25
The Winery
Azienda Uggiano was born in the 1970s in the Castle of Montespertoli and later moved to its current home in San Vincenzo a Torri, nestled among ancient churches and Tuscan villas. Founded by winemaker Giuseppe Losapio, the estate quickly became a benchmark producer in the Chianti Colli Fiorentini zone.
In 2015, the winery transitioned to a new generation of leadership—Daniele Prosperi, Giacomo Fossati, and Fabio Martelli—who brought fresh energy while preserving the estate’s classical soul. Under their leadership, Uggiano has become Equalitas-certified, reflecting their commitment to environmental and social sustainability.
Uggiano is beloved by sommeliers and fine wine retailers for offering exceptional value. Their wines are approachable yet age-worthy, making them ideal for both everyday enjoyment and special occasions.
