The Wine

The palate is medium bodied offering notes of white peach and zesty citrus, complimented by a delicate creamy texture as the result of the winemaker's decision to hold the wine in tank for some extended yeast contact and stirring.

This is an affordable, bright and refreshing wine that is crisp, dry, that boasts a lingering,  fruit-dominated finish.

The Winery

Located in the Margaret River area, in the Southwest corner of that massive continent. It was one of the region's early pioneers in 1977, when Dr. John Lagan, whose venture was inspired by the pioneering spirit of the region. Long a fan of literature, Dr. Lagan named the winery after the mysterious, idyllic home of Kubla Khan. He saw similarities between the literary utopia and his home in Margaret River.

Purchased in 2005 by the Rathbone family (owners of Yering Station and Mount Langi Ghiran wineries), and sharpened the winery's focus on quality by investing in some long-needed upgrades. Today the winery manages 156 acres as well as guest rooms and a fine dining restaurant.

All the Rathbone family properties are part of Australia's national program for growers and producers seeking constant improvements in their sustainability practices. Sustainable Winegrowing Australia is a collaboration between The Australian Wine Research Institute, Wine Australia and Australian Grape & Wine.
