The Wine
Aromas of black cherry, blackberry, clove, and cinnamon with some cracked peppercorn flitting in and out of the sensory experience. The palate is fruit-forward and lush, with flavors of black plum, cranberry, and ripe cherries.
In an inspired bit of blending genius, a little cool-climate Refosco was blended into the Lodi Zin, adding some depth and complexity. The wine is medium bodied, with rich tannins and a lingering jammy finish.
Pairings: Grilled meats, barbecue, tomato‑basd pastas, and richly seasoned dishes. Cheese-wise, reach for one of our aged cheddars, smoked cheeses, and hearty charcuterie.
The Winery
Bargetto Winery is one of California’s historic family‑run producers, founded in 1933 and still operated by the Bargetto family.
While their home estate is in the Santa Cruz Mountains, they have long sourced fruit from select Lodi vineyards to craft approachable, fruit‑forward reds that complement their mountain‑grown wines.
Their winemaking emphasizes honest, traditional methods—careful vineyard selection, restrained oak, and a focus on clarity of fruit. The Lodi Zinfandel reflects this philosophy: a straightforward, flavorful, region‑true wine that highlights both the heritage of the Bargetto family and the easygoing charm of Lodi’s old‑vine Zinfandel culture.
