The Wine
A dark‑fruited, vividly colored red from a blend of two of Spain's key red grapes - Garnacha Tintorera (Alicante Bouschet) and Monastrell (aka Mourvedre), the two grapes you'll find on Almansa’s high‑altitude, plateau vineyard.
Plush but not heavy, with aromas of saturated blackberry, blueberry, and dark cherry, followed by violets, cocoa, and a hint of herbs. The Garnacha Tintorera provides the deep color and juicy core while the Monastrell adds a firm foundation with a nice spice, and a savory edge.
The palate is smooth and fruit‑forward, with ripe black fruit, a touch of chocolate, and a clean, stony note that keeps the wine fresh. Tannins are rounded and approachable, giving the wine an easy, modern profile with a lingering, dark‑berry finish.
Pairings: Burgers, roasted vegetables, grilled meats, hearty pastas, and richly seasoned dishes. Cheese-wise, reach for our aged cheeses or any of our smoked cheeses, when they're in stock.

Bodegas Atalaya is part of the Juan Gil ('hill') Family of Wines, a group known for expressive, region‑driven wines under different brands and across all of Spain.
Founded 110 years ago, they are still family-owned and proud to shine a light on the potential of Almansa’s high‑altitude, limestone‑rich terrain. Atalaya focuses on Garnacha Tintorera and Monastrell—two varieties that thrive in the region’s hot days, cool nights, and dry conditions. La Bien Planta is crafted to showcase Garnacha Tintorera’s vivid color and juicy black‑fruit character in an approachable, polished form.
