Lucidity Wine Merchants
The Wine
Biancolella is one of Ischia’s most distinctive native white grapes, and Cenatiempo’s 2024 captures the island’s volcanic brightness with remarkable clarity.
The wine opens with lemon blossom, white grapefruit, green pear, and a gentle herbal note that blends aromas of fennel fronds growing and ocean air. Biancolella always has a slightly waxy mid‑palate, and here it’s balanced by the island’s natural acidity and the mineral tension of tufa and basalt soils.
The 2024 vintage is especially pure: crisp, saline, and quietly floral, with a long finish that blends citrus peel, crushed stone, and a whisper of Mediterranean herbs.
Pairings: Perfect with raw or lightly cooked seafood, grilled prawns, octopus, lemon‑driven pastas, and fresh cheeses. It’s also excellent with dishes featuring herbs, citrus, or anything that echoes the wine’s salinity.
The Winery
Cenatiempo is one of Ischia’s most respected family estates, known for championing the island’s native grapes and terraced volcanic vineyards.
Their approach is to deploy minimal intervention, allowing the wine to focus on clarity of fruit and the unmistakable imprint of Ischia’s geology — tufa, pumice, basalt, and constant maritime influence.
Biancolella is a flagship variety for the island, and Cenatiempo treats it with a light hand: cool fermentations, stainless steel, and a style that foregrounds freshness over weight. The result is a wine that feels inseparable from its place — bright, coastal, and deeply tied to Ischia’s volcanic slopes.
