The Wine
Lampoulle Rouge is a classic Faugères blend shaped by schist soils that give the wine its smoky, mineral backbone. The 2024 vintage produced vivid blackberry fruit, wild herbs, and a savory, iron‑tinged finish. Liquière’s old‑vine Grenache and Carignan provide the core, while Syrah adds structure and spice.
The wine seems as rustic as it does polished - a hallmark of Faugères’ high‑elevation parcels.
Pairings: Grilled sausages, lamb shoulder, ratatouille. Earthy sheep’s‑milk cheeses like Ossau‑Iraty are ideal companions.
The Winery
Château de la Liquière is a multi‑generation family domaine farming steep schist slopes in the heart of Faugères. Their commitment to organic viticulture and minimal intervention allows the region’s distinctive soils to shine. The estate is known for wines that balance Mediterranean richness with the tension and minerality of their hillside vineyards.
