Grape Expectations
The Wine
A clean, graphite‑tinged wine from Bordeaux Médoc region. The wine features dark currant, cedar, and a firm but polished frame. The palate is medium‑bodied, savory, and classic, finishing with hints of tobacco and a mineral lift.
Pairings: Roast lamb or herb‑crusted pork (Porchetta!) where the wine’s structure and earthiness can shine.
The Winery
Château La Pirouette is part of a new wave of Cru Bourgeois estates revitalizing overlooked corners of the Médoc. The property has seen a generational handoff in the last decade, leading to a huge step away from the sea of generic Bordeaux. The "kids" have shifted away from bulk‑focused farming with lower yields, parcel‑by‑parcel vinification, and a renewed emphasis on sustainable vineyard practices. Their house style now leans toward classic Left Bank (Cabernet in the lead) but with a cleaner, more precise touch.
