The Wine

A bright, refreshing \white wine with a subtle but persistent texture on the palate. Aromatics and flavors of pear, apricot and white flowers - all characteristics of this this rare grape (Loin de l'Oeil) from southwestern French.

The wine reflects the Croisille family’s precision‑driven, organic approach, even though it is grown outside their Cahors appellation, an exception they eagerly made so as to shed a little light on this most deserving of historic Gaillac grape varieties!

The Winery

Château Les Croisille is a family‑run estate founded in 1979 by Cécile and Bernard Croisille. Their facility is located in Cahors, a region in Southwest France, where they built a reputation based on organically and biodynamically farmed Malbec.

Since then, the domaine has passed to the next generation, who expanded the estate’s vision while remaining true to its original guiding strategy - a commitment to purity of expression, finesse, and environmental consciousness.

Although best known for their Cahors reds (at least 70% of which must be Malbec), they also produce small‑lot whites under the broader Vin de France designation, allowing them to explore varieties outside the appellation’s rules.

Loin de l’Oeil - also known as Len de l’El - is s perfect example. Native to Gaillac and named for its unusually long stems that hold the clusters “far from the eye,” referring to the vine's bud that originated the cluster..
