Clif Family Wines 2023 Rose of Grenache, Mendocino

This Rosé, a summer favorite, offers a delicious twist all year round. Its bright acidity complements the flavors of winter's hearty dishes like roasted root vegetables or aged gouda, while serving as the perfect partner for summertime's lighter meals.

At Clif Family, their Rosé winemaking always starts with decisions made in the vineyard - from crop density to harvest pick dates. The entire effort of this vineyard goes into this very intentional Rose - the wine is no by-product created just to make red wines more intense!

These Grenache grapes come primarily from the famed Bartolomei Brothers Vineyard on the Talmage Bench in Mendocino County, just southeast of Ukiah.  The family has lived on this piece of land since the early 1900’s and brothers, Vincent, and Rory, are the 4th generation farming the vines.

The Winery

As a young man, Gary Erickson was a bit adrift. Living at home, he spent his days pursuing outdoor adventures, which inspired his foray into convenient, nutritious foods that were easy to eat on the trail. Over time, the famed Clif Bar was born, enjoyed explosive growth and eventually sold for a large fortune some decades later. Some of that large fortune which went into the formation of this winery, a certified B-Corp. What a great use of resources!
