Croft Reserve Tawny Port Croft is one of the original Port houses, founded in 1588. Their house style balances richness with approachability.
Their Reserve Tawny is built from wines aged in seasoned oak casks, where slow oxidation develops the warm, nut‑driven character that defines the category. The blend features elegance over power, with the house’s signature smoothness in plain view, so to speak.
Tasting Notes: Caramel, toasted nuts, dried apricot, and orange peel, carried by a gentle sweetness and lifted by just enough acidity to prevent the wine from being cloying. The oxidative notes add depth without being dominant. It’s a versatile tawny: polished, comforting, and immediately enjoyable.
Croft Reserve Tawny is excellent with blue cheeses, where its caramelized richness and nutty warmth meet the cheese’s salt and intensity. It also works well with nut‑based desserts, dried‑fruit pastries, and simple after‑dinner sipping.
