The Wine
A pale, vibrant Rhone Valley rosé that shows red berries (strawbrry, cranberry), citrus zest, and an enticing herbal hint that keeps the wine interesting sip after sip. Bright, dry, and refreshing, with a subtle saline snap.
Pairings: Grilled shrimp or tomato‑herb dishes. Perfect for summer salads topped with grilled shrimp or chicken.
The Winery
Escaravailles has been family‑run since 1953, now led by the third generation, Gilles Ferran, who has pushed the estate toward higher‑altitude sites and more restrained, terroir‑driven styles. The name means “the beetles” in Occitan, a nod to the black‑clad monks who once farmed these hills. Farming is increasingly organic, with a focus on biodiversity and minimal intervention — a contrast to the richer, heavier Rhône styles of the past.
