The Wine

Donnafugata is one of Sicily's premier wineries, and when they combined their winemaking creativity with the design genius of Dolce & Gabbana they exploded the old chestnut that Italy has the most boring wine labels in the old world!

Their 'Tancredi' Rosso Terre Siciliane IGT is a polished, modern Sicilian red that blends Cabernet Sauvignon with Nero d’Avola (and small supporting varieties) to create a wine that appeals to both lovers of the Mediterranean and international styles of winemaking.

The 2022 release shows ripe black cherry, plum, and blackberry layered with warm spice, tobacco leaf, and a touch of balsamic depth. Cabernet brings firmness and length; Nero d’Avola contributes ripe fruit and savory Mediterranean herbs. The palate is full but not cloying due to the wine's mouthwatering acidity, all leading into a long finish with echoing notes of dark fruit, cocoa, and volcanic minerality.

Pairings: Grilled lamb, braised beef, hearty pasta dishes, aged cheeses, and richly seasoned Mediterranean fare. It also works well with tomato‑based dishes and roasted vegetables.

The Winery

Donnafugata is one of Sicily’s most respected family estates, known for its expressive, site‑driven wines and its collaborations that highlight the island’s cultural identity. Tancredi is part of the estate’s partnership with Dolce & Gabbana, whose design work shapes the label and packaging.

The wine itself is produced from vineyards in western Sicily, where warm days, cool nights, and well‑drained soils allow both Cabernet and Nero d’Avola to ripen fully while retaining freshness. Donnafugata’s approach emphasizes careful vineyard selection, hand harvesting, and precise cellar work to craft wines that are refined, expressive, and fully Sicilian.
