Funaro 2024 Grillo "Pinzeri"
Funaro 2024 Grillo "Pinzeri"
The Italians use over 500 different grapes to make wine, many of which are strange and obscure to wine lovers outside their native areas. Grillo is one such wine grape!
While most American wine lovers may not know it as a white wine varietal, it is Sicily's most planted white grape. This fact may be surprising until it comes to light that the majority of Grillo goes into the production of Marsala, the famous fortified wine from Western Sicily. Grapes with such a destiny are not grown with the same tender loving care as grapes who end up on our fine wine shelves.
It's only in the last few years that Grillo has been farmed for use as a varietal wine like this one. Taste this delicious white wine with its distinctive, slightly bitter finish and you'll join us in wondering "what the hell took so long?!"
