The Wine
We were thrilled to discover this delicious wine from Virginia, and bought all we could once we learned the distributor was going out of business due to the unprecedented challenges of our current times.
The wine is immensely satisfying, showing bright, playful, and wildly drinkable red fruit notes that are a signature of the “Virginia nouveau” niche wines that are all about freshness and fun.
Juicy red fruit (cherry, raspberry, strawberry), a little cranberry tartness, gentle spice, and a touch of herbal lift. The palate is light‑bodied, vibrant, and slightly chillable, with zippy acidity and a clean, crunchy-fruit finish.
Pairings: Charcuterie, burgers, barbecue chicken, roasted vegetables, and casual picnic fare. Its brightness and low tannin make it especially good with spice, smoke, and anything off the grill.
The Winery
Lightwell Survey is one of Virginia’s most creative, boundary‑pushing producers. Winemaker Jake Busching focuses on minimal intervention, early picking for freshness, and expressive, energetic styles that highlight Virginia’s unique mix of humidity, elevation, and diverse soils. Electric Juice Box is their playful, experimental red — youthful, juicy, and crafted to be enjoyed with zero fuss
