Regal Wine Co
A Spanish‑inspired white blend made by Lepe Cellars to be bottled (canned?) by Maker Wine, the company famous for putting great wines into cans. A blend of Albariño, Verdelho, and Grenache Blanc grown in the Monterey coastal region.
Each variety is hand‑picked in the early morning when the grapes' crisp acidity is at its peak, then pressed separately and aged in French barrels.
The wine shows pale straw color with aromas of tropical fruit, quince, pear, and citrus zest, along with floral notes and a touch of minerality. The palate is bright and zesty, offering citrus, pear, and neutral fruit tones with lively acidity and a crisp, refreshing finish. It has earned recognition at multiple competitions, including a Bronze Medal at the Sommeliers Choice Awards.
Pairings: Excellent with beach‑day foods, fish tacos, fresh seafood, citrus‑driven salads, and simple summer dishes that match its bright, mineral, fruit‑forward profile. Cheese-wise, pair with fresh goat cheeses, young Manchego, or a young Mahon. Lovers of cows' milk cheeses will want a fresh mozzarella or semi-soft Alpine cheese.
The Winery
Lepe Cellars is led by Miguel Lepe, the first Mexican‑American winemaker and tasting‑room owner on the Monterey Peninsula.
The son of migrant farm workers, he discovered wine unexpectedly in college and pursued viticulture at Cal Poly before working with both boutique and large‑scale producers. His mentor, Peter Figge, encouraged him to establish Lepe Cellars in 2014.
Today, Lepe focuses on small‑production wines that highlight coastal terroir through careful fruit selection, indigenous yeast fermentations, and restrained, detail‑driven winemaking. The Spanish White Blend reflects his interest in crafting distinctive, expressive wines that balance Old World inspiration with Monterey’s maritime freshness.
