The Wine
A classic Right Bank Bordeaux built on Merlot with support from Cabernet Franc. The grapes are from vineyards planted on clay‑limestone soils that give the wine both plush fruit and firm underlying structure.
Those cool, moisture‑retentive clays deepen the wine’s black‑fruit profile - plum, black cherry, and blackberry - while the limestone adds lift, freshness, and a subtle mineral edge.
The 2020 vintage is one of Bordeaux’s strongest in modern years, producing wines of concentration and balance with refined tannins - clearly expressed here with the wine's dark fruit, violets, cocoa, graphite, and warm spice. The finish is long and polished with the supple tannins typical of the region.
Pairings: roast lamb, grilled pork tenderloin, mushroom dishes, and hearty stews. Cheese‑wise, reach for our Ossau‑Iraty, Tomme de Savoie, or a firm, aged Gouda.
The Winery
Château Vieux Landot is a small family estate in the Entre‑Deux‑Mers/Right Bank corridor, where generations have farmed Merlot and Cabernet Franc. To express their vineyards in an honest and transparent manner, the family focuses on careful vineyard work, modest yields, and restrained cellar activity to preserve the character of their soils.
Like the domestic wines Mar Tarlov brings to the market, the brand was built for the on‑premise fine‑dining world, especially chef‑driven tasting‑menu restaurants in New York, Las Vegas, and Los Angeles. Tarlov’s earlier projects (Evening Land, Chapter 24, Maison L’Envoyé) were heavily adopted by Michelin‑starred programs, and Little Boat follows the same distribution model: tiny allocations, sommelier‑focused placements, and wines crafted for pairing flexibility. Sommeliers often cite Little Boat’s restrained alcohol, clean fruit, and subtle oak as reasons it fits tasting‑menu service.
