The Wine
A Chardonnay from the Givry appellation in Burgundy's Côte Chalonnaise, a region increasingly recognized for whites of freshness and minerality. Grown on the area's classic clay-limestone soils, the wine reflects the balance and elegance that characterize white Burgundy from this southern sector of the Côte d'Or.
The nose opens with aromas of white flowers, citrus and orchard fruit, particularly apple, pear and hints of apricot, supported by subtle notes of vanilla and gentle oak influence. On the palate, it is medium-bodied with a supple texture balanced by lively acidity. Flavours of lemon, white peach and yellow plum mingle with delicate buttery and mineral notes, creating a wine that is both expressive and refined. The finish is clean and persistent, carrying freshness and a subtle chalky character typical of Burgundy's limestone-rich terroirs.
Pairings: Roast chicken, grilled sea bass, scallops, lobster with herb butter, creamy mushroom dishes, veal in a light cream sauce, Comté, Beaufort, or young Gruyère.
The Producer
Remoissenet Père & Fils is one of Burgundy's historic négociant houses, founded in Beaune in 1877. Long respected for its extensive holdings of mature wines and traditional Burgundian expertise, the house works with growers throughout the region while also managing select vineyard parcels themselves. Its portfolio spans many of Burgundy's most celebrated appellations, from village wines through to Premier and Grand Cru bottlings.
Whether sourcing from the Côte de Beaune, Côte de Nuits or Côte Chalonnaise, the house aims to preserve terroir character while maintaining the elegance and age-worthiness associated with traditional Burgundy.
