The Wine
A traditional‑method (secondary fermentation in bottle) sparkling wine made from Chenin Blanc grapes grown on Vouvray’s classic tuffeau limestone and flinty clay soils. One of our best-selling sparkling wines.
The cool Loire climate preserves the grape’s natural acidity and orchard‑fruit clarity, while gentle pressing and temperature‑controlled fermentations keep the aromatics bright.
After secondary fermentation occurs in the bottle, the wine spends at least 18 months on the lees and another 3 months in bottle prior to release - all to build the fine mousse (the stream of bubbles that gather at the top of the glass) and subtle complexity that allows this wine to over-deliver for its modest price.
The palate is crisp and dry, showing green apple, pear skin, white flowers, and a touch of honeyed citrus, with lees aging adding quiet notes of brioche and almond. The finish is clean, chalk‑driven, and refreshing.
Pairings: Shellfish, sushi, fried foods (try it with fried chicken!), and lighter poultry dishes. It also shines as an aperitif or brunch wine. Cheese-wise, reach for our fresh chèvre or a young Tomme-style cheese.
The Winery
Ronsard draws fruit from vineyards rooted in the limestone plateau of Vouvray, a region long celebrated for Chenin Blanc’s ability to express both minerality and finesse. The winery follows traditional Loire practices: early harvesting to maintain tension, gentle pressing, cool fermentations, and bottle aging on the lees before riddling and disgorgement. This approach yields wines that balance freshness with subtle complexity, offering a classic and approachable expression of Vouvray’s sparkling tradition.
